Evolution is Messy

The shift. The feeling that things are changing. Evolution. Maybe you are going through this right now. Maybe we are in the same place. Well, its damn uncomfortable at times, isn't it? It sometimes feels as if all the stuff I thought I knew was wrong. A friend of mine uses a great line that I love: "evolution is messy". That is for sure.

"She understood that the hardest times in life to go through were when you were transitioning from one version of yourself to another". (Sarah Addison Allen)

I have felt at times during my life that I was hungry to learn new things, as if I couldn’t get enough. These times have found me reading books about self awareness and spirituality, and trying new things that I "suddenly" realized I wanted to try. Writing, yoga, meditation are now so integral to my life that its hard to picture what my life was without them. Each new cycle takes me back out of my comfort zone. Yes, evolution is messy.

"What is my life purpose?" This is followed by "why didn't I realize this sooner?" Life definitely happens outside your comfort zone. I believe that evolution and self awareness are choices. Some people wait for this discomfort to pass. Some embrace it with their whole being.

When you are in a place of embracing evolution, here are some questions to ask yourself from the Chopra Center.

  1. How can I move forward today?

  2. Is my personal growth accelerating?

  3. Do I know myself better?

  4. Do I enjoy my life more?

  5. Am I becoming more positive as self-judgment falls away"

  6. Do I feel connected to a higher vision of life a higher power that makes this vision come true?

Uncomfortable. Messy. Even scary at times. Oh but what an amazing journey of personal and spiritual growth. I embrace my evolution. I love who I am becoming.

"I will not die an unlived life... I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible; to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise." (Dawna Markova)
