One Minute Can Change Your Day

StartFragment

Stressed, scared, mind racing with all the things you need to do? Usually the folks that tell me they are in any of these states also say they are too busy to stop for even a minute. Okay, here is some truth. You have to make yourself important too. I say give yourself one minute. Seriously. One minute can change your day. Start by taking a deep breath in and exhaling it out of your mouth audibly.

Next you will do these steps 3 times in a row. Then repeat as needed. Ø Sit down in a chair with your feet both on the floor. (Or sit on the floor if more comofortable.) Ø Close your eyes. Ø Breathe in through your nose filling your belly with air to a count of 1, 2, 3. Ø Now breathe out through your nose bringing your belly to your spine for a count of 1, 2, 3.

You're back in charge. Just breathe.

Simple. Effective. Get comfortable doing the breathing practice and you will see a change in your life. Starting to see the rewards of breathing and want to do more? Add a daily affirmation. An affirmation is a positive statement that you repeat throughout the day, either out loud or to yourself (or both). This becomes your way of reprogramming yourself and helps you to change some of the negative tapes that may be playing your head. Oh yes we all have them.

For example, if you are usually thinking about how worried you are, try “Today I will not worry or be afraid”.

Spend a little time listening to the tapes in your head and begin to build your positive affirmations. Here are a few ideas.

I am grateful for all of the blessings in my life.

I am strong and beautiful/handsome.

I am happy and accepting of love.

One minute can change your day. Ultimately it can change your life. You definitely have time. That one minute puts you back in charge of your life. Just breathe.
